Before the main championship rounds begin, the Worlds week gets underway with three field events that showcase different aspects of disc golf — mixed doubles, distance, and putting. Each event crowns its own winners, and all medalists will be recognized during the opening ceremony on Tuesday, July 29, in downtown Tampere.

Mixed Doubles — Saturday, July 26

Location: Nokia Beast (Hinttalankatu 6, Tampere)
Top-level mixed pairs will compete on the well-known Beast course in Nokia. This event offers a great start to the week, with many familiar names from the pro scene. Among the participants are Niklas Anttila and Eveliina Salonen, who form one of the most anticipated teams of the competition.

Long Drive Competition presented by DiscKing — Sunday, July 27

Location: Tammer-Golf Driving Range (Tenniskatu 25, Tampere)
The distance competition gives players a chance to show off their throwing power in an open-range setting. The event takes place at Tammer-Golf’s driving range, a venue suited for testing the limits of both form and force.

In the MPO division, one of the most interesting matchups will be between Anthony Barela and Rasmus Saukkoriipi. Barela — often referred to as “AB” — is widely considered one of the longest throwers on tour. In Finland, however, many believe Saukkoriipi is the top power thrower in the country, and that he has what it takes to challenge even the biggest names on the world stage.

Note: Long Drive Competition is not a spectator event due to venue constraints.

Putting Competition — Tuesday, July 29

Location: Central Plaza, Tampere (Keskustori 1, Tampere)
Held in the heart of Tampere, the putting competition will run throughout the day with preliminary rounds and a final just before the opening ceremony. The setting in Keskustori (Central Plaza) makes this a unique experience for both players and spectators. Expect a lively atmosphere as players aim to keep their focus in front of the crowd.

The putting course features 9 baskets, each paired with 3 distinct throwing stations, resulting in 27 total putts per competitor. Baskets 1 and 9 are situated in the Fan Zone, creating an exciting start and finish for participants and spectators alike. Baskets 2 through 8 are located in the nearby historic park area, offering a scenic and culturally rich backdrop for the competition.
