The opening day of the Disc Golf World Championships has wrapped up for the MPO division as well. Several slightly surprising names can be found at the top of the leaderboard after day one.
The best performer in the MPO division was American Sullivan Tipton (-12), who played a stellar round without a single bogey. Tomorrow, Tipton will be joined on the lead card by Adam Hammes, Pyry Joutsen, and Eetu Tuominen, all of whom shot -11 on the first day.
It was an extremely tight round overall, with a total of 24 players currently within five strokes of the lead.
Unstable weather caused two interruptions during the round in Nokia, but that didn’t stop the fans. An impressive 2,800 spectators made their way to the course on Wednesday — a strong number considering it was only the first round of the event.
The top-seeded A-pool, featuring all the tournament favourites, will play their second round tomorrow in Tampere.
