Ohn Scoggins is the 2025 Disc Golf World Champion. The experienced American secured her first career world title in a dramatic finish in Nokia.
The crowd at the final round of the women’s division was massive, and spectators were kept on edge until the very last moment as the round delivered plenty of drama. Four players remained in contention throughout the day. Henna Blomroos started strong and held the lead for much of the round, but faltered on the final holes and fell just one stroke short of Scoggins. Ella Hansen, who began the day on the chase card, shot an unbelievable -12 round and shattered the course record by six strokes. However, a bogey on the final hole dashed her hopes. Blomroos and Hansen ended up tied for third place.
Fifteen-year-old Iida Lehtomäki, who entered the round as the leader, couldn’t quite find her best form, but a string of birdies at the end brought her to a total score of -10. That might have been enough for the world title, but Scoggins also finished strong and birdied the 18th to tie things up.
After five days and five rounds, the world champion was decided in a playoff — Lehtomäki and Scoggins returned immediately to hole 18. Scoggins’ drive rolled out of bounds, and for a moment, it looked like Lehtomäki might take the title, but her approach shot landed just outside the OB line. Lehtomäki laid up under the basket from about 20 meters, leaving Scoggins with a circle one putt for the win.
Scoggins didn’t hesitate. She nailed the putt dead center and celebrated her first world title in front of the huge crowd in Nokia.
