PDGA Pro Worlds Break Records Across Nearly Every Measure

The impact and spectator report for the PDGA Pro Worlds has been released. Held for the first time outside North America, the event was the most significant disc golf tournament to date.

According to the organizer’s estimates, 11,500 spectators attended in Nokia on Sunday. Over the course of the week, a total of 25,800 people followed the A and C pool rounds on-site. Visitors traveling for the Worlds contributed an estimated €3.99 million to the local economy.

The event also drew a record broadcast audience, with Disc Golf Network and YLE attracting more than 1.35 million viewers on Sunday, August 3. Beyond the live coverage, the championships reached record numbers in national sports news. In addition to Finland’s largest networks, the event was featured in national sports broadcasts in other European countries. On social media, the PDGA Pro Worlds have already surpassed 100 million impressions.

Alongside its reach, the event received high praise from both players and spectators. According to 2025 World Champion Gannon Buhr link: “These are the best championships I’ve ever seen. The finest disc golf I’ve ever had the chance to be part of.”

Tournament Director Jussi Meresmaa was more than satisfied with the outcome: “The Worlds achieved its goals almost perfectly: we built the greatest disc golf event in the world, followed by the largest live audience in the sport’s history, both on-site and via stream. We delivered a €4 million boost to the local economy and put disc golf on the lips of the entire Finnish nation. This is the highlight of my career, and I will remember it forever. I want to thank the disc golf community — you made the dream come true.”
